Algiers (27th November) - Atlanta-based Algiers are known for their incredible blending of "dystopian soul", gospel and post-punk. They released their second album, The Underside of Power, this year to critical acclaim, meaning that you would be mad to miss it being played live. A "musical response to the dark times" as it is so claimed, Algiers refuse to sit back and watch the world go by, they want to start the revolution. Pumarose was tipped as "the band to watch" in 2015 and this year they finally released their debut, The Witch. They've stated that they want their lyrics to create a female protagonist addressing issues on sexuality and gender, and, it has to be said, they've done an incredible job about it. If that doesn't capture you, front-woman, Isabel Munoz-Newsome's, raw vocals will. Described as a "phenomenon" live and as the "essence as what rock and roll should be", Low Cut Connie have been building up their fanbase from a range of people. Their recent release, Dirty Pictures (Part 1), aimed to prove that they were deeper than their "party band image", that they write about how people feel and live nowadays. So far the album has been described as being "radiant, immersive and teeming with light, but still heavy and forceful" and covers a range of topics such as death, heartbreak, body image and even natural disaster. Stone Sour (30th November) - Fronted by Corey Taylor who also the front-man of a little known band named Slipknot, this alternative metal band are back with their 2017 release, Hydrograd. The release had been described as being a bit more rock and roll than their previous albums and has been praised for it's larger than life choruses. Calls Landing (2nd December) - An independent Leeds band who are now getting starting to get recognition they deserve. They released their debut album, Heirlooms, in May 2015 and only three months they were Futuresound competition winners who won a spot on he Lock Up Stage at Leeds and Reading Festival. You're lying to yourself if a certain voice doesn't come to your head, and if nothing comes to mind then where the hell have you been? Love them or hate them this glam metal band is iconic and it feels like they've been around for a long time (even though they only formed in 2000). You know that if you see this band tonight you are in for the most cliche but brilliant performance ever, what's not to love?
