One thing that tends to be overlooked or ignored by some people is how large the UK pop-punk scene actually is, regardless of whether it's underground or in the mainstream it exists."The UK has no pop-punk scene, there are no good pop-punk bands from the UK, there's no..." Please shut up.If you want proof of what this scene has produced then look no further than Better Days, a band from Newcastle who in the past year have already achieved what a lot of other upcoming artists would dream of happening.(I did an article on them back when I did my work placement at Ont' Sofa, feel free to check it out here.)They were in Leeds for third time at Eiger Music Studios, and this time they were headlining.Last time Better Days were here they were playing in a line-up with four other bands; Safeguard, High Visions, One Way Street and Lyon Estates, (with Safeguard and High Visions coming back as support), and since then there have been a few changes. The end of September saw the departure of members Josh Lynch and Sam Sutcliffe, and the introduction of new members; Michael Bivona (drums) and Zachary Burnside (bass). For some fans a new line-up can be worrying as the typical fear of "will it be the same?" arises, but after attending this show it can be safely said that there's nothing for them to worry about.Their live performance was still up to the same high standards seen at their other live shows as shown through their stage presence, onstage chemistry and musical talent. The setlist consisted of their released singles Worthless, Thick Skin and, of course, fan favourite A Lesson In Struggling to Cope, as well songs from their Split EP (released with Wayside Story) like Without You and their demo 12.07.15, as well as other interesting highlights like the long conversation and revelations about each others pets and animal stories.Just don't question it.Next week Better Days go into the studio to record their debut EP that's due out for release early next year, and if you can't wait that long they also have some good shows coming up, like their Christmas show in Newcastle on 1st December.I was able to interview Better Days earlier on in the day so if fancy hearing more about what they've been up to and what's to come feel free to have a listen:
