Judging by their most recent releases, You Me At Six are taking it back to their Sinners Never Sleep days.
First, we were given the fast-paced, Prodigy-inspired track MAKEMEFEELALIVE, and now we have been given the much slower yet hard-hitting track, Beautiful Way.
It starts slow as front-man Josh Franceschi talks of love and some of the toxic characteristics that come with it; “Love is a drug, but it never comes with a warning. When the comedown comes, you know you're gonna be in mourning.”
Franceschi goes on to explore how love can be a dangerous yet intoxicating feeling; a feeling that is not always good for you: “The push and pull courtship, yeah, it betrayed us.”
Yet, as his other half brings up the same doubt and concern, he immediately comes back with:“I won’t let it go.”
And then the chorus hits.
Hard: “So tell me what do you mean when you say that we’re not okay? We’re fucked up in a beautiful way.”
All accompanied with a mixed backing track of drum and bass, the type of beat you can picture being played at an underground party where all the attendees bounce on cue to while others passionately sing along to their partners or person of interest.
While it is not as heavy, or loud, as predecessor MAKEMEFEELALIVE, it is a more interesting track, it stands out far more.
And given that the single release came out alongside an album announcement, SUCKAPUNCH, we have a lot to look forward to in terms of what to expect.
Keep your eyes peeled on January 15th.
