The Bottom Line at the Star and Garter

The Bottom Line at the Star and Garter

London pop-punk band, The Bottom Line, performed in Manchester on their first headline northern date since touring with Waterparks in September. For a small band who are relatively unknown to most people, The Bottom Line have a pretty impressive CV.They've toured around the world, from America to Canada to Asia, and have opened for the likes of Waterparks and Simple Plan (on many occasions). So it's about time that they did their own tour.Support came in the form of (fake) Geordies Better Days and Nottingham based rock band Lacey who helped to get the crowd warmed up through a mixture of energetic songs, banter, humour and dabbing...yes the dabbing. It wouldn't stop, god help us all.The Bottom Line's set contained a mixture of songs from their debut album Role Models? and their recent EP I Still Hate You, playing songs like Record Player, Insecure, A Little Much and Pull Me Out, as well as a cheeky cover of Smash Mouth's All Star. The Star and Garter is a tiny venue, a massive comparison to the size of the venues they had played in months prior but it certainly did not mean a downgrade in quality of a show.A smaller venue means a more intimate show where the band and audience are able to communicate with each other. This ranged from the audience being able to shout requests, questions and, sometimes, abuse but hey it's all in good fun, as well as getting a girl onstage to celebrate her 18th birthday. The crowd also got to experience members of the support bands jumping into the audience to help front-man, Cal Amies, to crowdsurf mid-set.The news of this had already been announced and spread on Twitter, but tonight The Bottom Line confirmed that they were in the process of recording and producing their second album after a six-year-long wait, so to make up for it they treated the audience to a new song called Happy which everyone should be looking forward to when officially released. To conclude the show they had two songs in the encore; I Still Hate You (described by some fans as being the anthem of the previous tour done with Waterparks) and their famous cover of Teenage Dirtbag where, let's be honest, Max Ellis is the main star of the show.Enjoy:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3i1fXwuzp7MWe did warn you about the dabbing. So overall we have a talented band in a small venue filled with nothing but people having a good time, what more could you want? You should mark your calender's for when their second album is released, you need to give The Bottom Line the recognition that they deserve.
