Yorkshire fans of Massachusetts rock band, PVRIS, traveled down to Manchester for their All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell tour, or AWKOHAWNOH for short. It's been over year since PVRIS last toured the UK so their return has been greatly received by their fanbase who showed their dedication by selling out the 3,500 capacity venue."There's quite a few of you here," said front-woman, Lynn Gunn, as she looked around the room with a mixture of happiness, pride and shock in her voice. "Thank you for coming down to the rock show.""By far this is our biggest show to date, so thank you so much for coming!"In the build up to this tour, PVRIS had done a few warm up shows in Europe and the UK with two massive shows at London's O2 Shepherds Bush Empire in May, as well as a slot on the main stage at Leeds and Reading Festival this summer where they teased then-unreleased All We Know of Heaven... To open the show they used the lead single of the album, Heaven, which was introduced with a distorted track that explained the meaning and themes behind the album's title and then going straight into the piano opening of the song.Any doubt of Gunn's vocal talents were completely destroyed as she hit all of the high notes of the track perfectly and the strength of her vocals were enough to leave everyone in stunned silence at the wonder in front of them.It didn't end there. The Lynn's vocals were also showcased on tracks like You and I, Anyone Else and Same Soul, which was the stand-out song of the night. However the same can't be said on St Patrick which, sadly, was quite underwhelming live, it didn't have the amount of energy that you'd expect to it happen at a live show. It's important to also acknowledge the talents of lead guitarist, Alex Babinski, and bassist, Brian MacDonald, who's talent stood out during Winter, Holy and Half, which has one of the best psychedelic breakdowns seen live.Of course everyone went nuts during My House, the second to last song of the evening, and tonight's encore, No Mercy, that concluded with Lynn running up and down the front row of the audience. This tour has proven that PVRIS aren't your typically rock band, All We Know of Heaven... showed how skilled they are at mixing in different styles and genres and their live show was proof of their talents as musicians and performers.Their tour concludes tomorrow at Brixton Academy in London with tickets still available here.[metaslider id=399]
