Pinkshift - Rainwalk Review

Pinkshift - Rainwalk Review

Published On:

Pinkshift made their presence known earlier this year with their loud, unapologetic anthem I’m Gonna Tell My Therapist On You and since then we have been waiting eagerly for what’s next.

Will it be just as loud?

Will it be raw and vulnerable?

Will it be something you can pit to?

“Yes”, answered Pinkshift.

The Baltimore quartet have treated us this time around with not one, but two new songs that loop perfectly into each other, starting off with the minute and a half long Toro.

Toro is just a teaser for what we can expect from Pinkshift, going from being loud and snarky, reminiscent of Green Day’s Jaded, to a more atmospheric sound, like that of horror/goth punk.

And then we get into Rainwalk.

Pinkshift are not done with feeling angry, this time targeting their emotions at those who you may have once been close with but who now pretend you don’t exist; but hey, you didn’t need them anyway.

Yet, that said person’s behaviour is so frustrating you can’t help but wonder why it became this way.

The anger builds over the course of the song until it all comes to a head in the final minute where everything becomes loud as front-woman, Ashrita Kumar, screams into the microphone as the musical breakdown takes place, the type you can picture a crowd create a huge circle pit to.

There’s no denying that Pinkshift are here to stay, and if you don’t like it, tough luck.

They’re a force to reckoned with and we should be excited for what the future holds for them.
