CHAPEL - Pillow Talk Review

CHAPEL - Pillow Talk Review

Published On:

Everyone’s favourite Georgia duo, CHAPEL, are back with their brand-new single Pillow Talk, a catchy but bittersweet tune that marks a change in their signature sound.

As the song opens with the lyrics; “Every night when I sleep, my brain takes over me,” accompanied with a moody guitar track, the tone is set for us.

CHAPEL have never been one to shy away from lyrics detailing more negative life experiences, but they’ve always disguised them with more catchy and upbeat instrumentals.

So, it’s like this time around they’ve gone and said, “yep, this is us, things suck, enjoy!”

As the track progresses, we hear a far too familiar story of anxiety and regrets building up and haunting you in your sleep; “Those things I said, never really thought it through, the weight it had, even if I went back, I would probably hate me too.”

And. It. Just. Doesn’t. End. “Is this what you wanted from me? For my mind to never be free.”

Despite the all too real nature of the lyrics you’ll still find yourself bopping your head along to the guitar beat, albeit with your eyes glazed over with a familiar feeling of dread.

A short but (bitter)sweet tune, Pillow Talk is a brilliant track that highlights CHAPEL’s growth and maturity as artists, furthermore it is a taste of what is yet to come from the duo.
